31st Pioneer Wagon Train, June 6 - 9

Date Saturday, June 2nd, 2007

“WAGONS HO!” will be the shout early on June 6 as horses snort, harnesses rattle, wheels creek and the Mariposa County Pioneer Wagon Train gets rolling for its thirty-second anniversary annual journey.

Every second weekend in June for more than 30 years, eager men, women, children, mules and horses have headed out on this 32-mile adventure. The train begins near the south entrance to Yosemite National Park, proceeds over the Sierra Nevada and finally circles up at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds for an evening of Cowboy Poetry, dinner and dancing.

The trek is open to mule- and horse-drawn vehicles, mounted riders and walkers, and period dress is encouraged. Not for the faint of heart (or soft of body), this back-in-time travel gives a fascinating, if dusty, taste of yesterday.
