The snow is coming slow this winter. Yosemite’s Badger Pass Ski Area was supposed to open earlier this month, but it remains closed because of a lack of snow. The ski area “will open as soon as we get enough snow that covers the slopes,” said Kari Cobb, spokeswoman for Yosemite National Park. “The forecast looks completely clear. We’ll be lucky if we can open in the middle of January.”

At Yosemite National Park, nature dazzled crowds with booming waterfalls this year, and visitor records tumbled. The park had its two busiest months in its history over the summer, and probably will have its second consecutive annual total of 4 million visitors.
